RACING NEWS:
8-03-08--  Nichols raicng had a decent night tonight.  Jimmy started i nthe 6th position in his heat race.  He would quickly move in to the top 4 and the top 4 would battle back and forth rubbing on each other the whole race.  Jimm was running 4th with 3 to go and was able to make a move and pass two cars in turns on and two to pull in to 2nd.  That is where he would finish his heat race.  Jimmy started 5th in the feature race.  When the green flag flew jimmy was able to jump up to the top 3, but there would be a caution and they would have a complete restart.  On the second restart Jimmy again was running in the top 3 along the bottom of the track.  The leader started to spin and started to slide in front of Jimmy.  He would hit the brakes to try and avoid, but spun out and couldn't keep going .  Caution flew and jimmy would restart 15th.  Jimmy would fight al lthe way back for a 6th place finish.  Jimmy will go in to the last night of points racing on August 17th in 4th place.

The kid's bike races were also held the same night.  Jake is two this year so he raced in the 2-4 year old divison.  Jake was once again in his Rusteze sponsored Lightening McQueen car.  He had a great start and would come with a 3rd place finish out of 7 kids.  Also racing in the bike races were Jimmy and Jill's niece and nephew, Jessica and Brady.  Brady was looking for a 3-peat after winning the previous two seasons, but this season he moved up to the 7-9 year old division.  Brady had a rough start, but came on strong at the end for a 3rd place finish out of approximately 15 kids.  Jessica was the last to race.  She also had a slow start, but was able to come back and finish as the 2nd highest girl in the division made up of mostly boys.

JAKE'S RACING DEBUT
Jimmy and Jill's 21 month old son Jake made his racing debut on July 8th in the annual Shopko Kid's Bike Races.  Jake was in the 2-4 year old group.  He had his Rusteze sponsored Lightning McQueen car all ready to go.  He would have a slow start, but got faster as the race went on.  Jake wouldn't win, but he had a great time racing his car on the same track his daddy races his.  Look for Jake's name in the future.

A little about Jake:  Jake was born prematurely at 24 weeks. Jill developed pregnancy induced hypertension and they had to deliver Jake to save both his and Jill's lives.  He weighed just 1 pound 5.5 ounces and was 11 inches long.  Daddy's wedding ring fit all the way up his arm.  Jake spent the first 4 months of his life in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where he had a drain inserted in his tummy for a perforated bowel, had laser eye surgery, and hernia surgery.  it was a long haul, but once you meet Jake you will know he is one tough little guy.  You would never know he had only a 10% chance of survival.  Jake is Jimmy and Jill's life.
